Heavy

Heavy

She's so thin,
frail and shaky like paper.
Hallow,
there's no colour in her cheeks,
no light in her eyes.

Is that really my bestfriend?

When she hugged me,
her heavy bones collapsed on my shoulders,
her spirit too heavy for her little frame.
Her breath was just as heavy,
heavy and slow.

For someone so thin,
it was desperately hard to hold her up,
her legs couldn't take it any more,
neither could my heart.

Her legs were as thin as my arms,
no wonder she was falling apart.

That's my best friend,
she's wasting away right before my eyes.

(I wrote this from the perspective of my best friend who watched me struggle through my journey with anorexia - james, this one is for you. I'm so sorry, I love you, thanks for everything you've ever done)
